Re: Group Addictions Change

Dear Ed,
In the mid 1980's Jim Ronan and I developed a six-session group for use as
an early intervention with US Army soldiers and civilians who were identified
with having alcohol or drug-related problems. The goal of the group was to
help the individual identify for him/herself the extent of the problem and
motivate for continued more extensive treatment if appropriate. We utilized
both current alcohol and drug information in a somewhat "educational" format,
then processed using Yalom's group processes, NLP and cognitive-behavioral
techniques, and in-group peer review processes.
