I believe the term "positive addiction" is an oxymoron. Addiction by most
accepted definitions is a negative process. I would use a phrase such as
"positive habit" or "positive routine" to describe the habitual runner or
regular reader. In NLP terms, a healthy or positive strategy might be
applied.
We must be careful in applying such terms, however. Whenever we choose to do
something, we are also choosing not to do something else. If the runner
regularly skips out on important meetings to run or the reader avoids
intimacy with a spouse by burying his/her nose in a book, we might want to
look more carefully at the real purpose behind such a strategy.
