Yes, that seems like a trait that most religions have in common.

It's the trait that distinguishes religion from mysticism.

Another factor would be 'observable results'. Many religions have behavioural
procedures (rituals) but they are not aimed at any observable result. Either
there is no result intended, or if it IS intended it isn't going to be
observable in this world. That also distinguishes empirical methods (like NLP)
from religion.
