Here's a couple of variations I've tried with my little golf experiment
combining EMDR, Fast Phobia/Trauma Cure, and pattern interrupts:
1) Instead of just running the shot backwards, run it alternately backwards
and forwards several times - rapidly, while doing the eye movements. Make
the last movie of the series forwards. Then, associate into the image of
yourself standing there enjoying your shot.
2) Insteading of repeating a meaningless mantra during the session, try
"Image Streaming". That is, describe out loud what your experiencing while
doing the technique. Talk about a pattern interrupt!
3) Edit together a long movie of every bad shot you've ever made, then run
it as in 1 & 2, above.
I've learned that this technique works equally well when using it on either
bad shots or good ones. I'm finding that it seems to disrupt old, inferior
patterns and opens the door for new learnings to come in. Now, when I go
out and actually shot, I'm learning all sorts of new things I didn't notice
before. My kinesthetic and proprioceptive senses are improving. By George,
I think it works!
A couple other great golf resources:
The SyberVision series of golf videos.
These videos show professional golfers making their best shots over and over
again, at regular speed, slow motion, and fast motion. No narrative. Just
soothing background music. Very easy to enter trance while watching and
learning at deep levels.
The book, "Golf - The Mind Game", by Marlin M. Mackenzie, Ed.D. with Ken
Denlinger (A Dell Trade Paperback, ISBN: 0-440-50209-8)
This is a book which applies NLP techniques to learning golf by an NLP
Master Practitioner.
