For what it is worth when i was doing hypnosis training the first thing I
ever undertook was a public talk about the uses and misunderstanding of
hypnosis. As a joke i had one of those "hypnotic spirals" on the wall and
jokingly said I would pretend to be the hypnotist who had just passed thru
town and they should pretend to be the audience that was there. Much to my
astonishment the first couple of people went into a trance in a couple of
seconds and the rest of the audience quickly followed suit: including the
reporteer who was covering the talk.
Dumbfounded i reported this back to the college where i trained and was
told that group trance work is even easier to induce than individual work:
there is a group dynamic or force that starts to act when the first
people>enter trance.
