A really good book on information processing (how to spot what kind you are,
as well as the people around you) is "The Art of the Possible" by Dawna
Markova. Her theory is that we all use all three types (auditory, visual,
kinesthetic) but we use them for different things. I, for example, am a
VAK. I learn by seeing, talking about, then doing. This also means that my
"ego" is visual, and I sort information (what to keep, what to toss, and
where to store it) auditorily, and that my subconsious is kinesthetic (this
means that I have to hold still, to go into trance).
From what I've read of NLP, it seems geared to people that are VAK, which
isn't surprising since it is the most common form of information processing,
as well as the style to which our schools are geared. (Heaven help a child
that is a KAV, for example... They need to move to learn, and looking at
people causes them to space out. They are the kids that hear "Johnny, are
you paying attention? Look at me when I'm speaking to you" etc too much in
their lives).
Ah.. my rant mode is on, I see. I'll pull back before it's too late :)
