Funerals we were informed,
>are great places to get "anchored". People walk up to you and grab your arm
>while looking at you in a very sad way. This causes all the bad memories of
>that day
>to stay stuck in your arm. Then the next time someone comes and touches
>your arm in that way you will feel like someone has just died.
According to a counsellor friend of mine who undertook emergency debriefing for
counselling for the Port Arthur victims, the team leader told people that
victims families didn't like being patted on the back.
I wonder why!!??!
If they spent all that time learning 'Modern Psychological Techniques' I
thought
they would know the answer? Then again so did most of the world.
